Welcome to the Original, World-Famous

First Monday Trade Days

"The Trade," a bronze statue located at the SH 19 entrance to the Original First Monday Park, commemorates the early years of the historical First Monday Trade Days when it was common to trade a rifle for a good hunting dog.

The world's largest outdoor trade days takes place Thursday through Sunday before the first Monday of every month in Canton, Texas. On First Monday weekend, this peaceful, friendly East Texas town turns into a shopper's paradise where vendors from across the country sell and trade antiques and collectibles, furniture, home decorative accessories, arts and crafts, clothing, jewelry, tools, produce, and much more.

Make plans now to come to Canton and enjoy the First Monday shopping experience. The next Trade Days weekend is October 2-5. The City of Canton welcomes you to the Original First Monday Park, located between FM 859 and SH 19. Find the park from your house.

Welcome to the official site

of the Original First Monday Trade Days!

We hope you will find the information here that you need to make your next visit to Canton, Texas, a memorable one. Regardless of where you are logging on from, you are home now at the intersection of history and commerce -- the largest outdoor trade days in the world! What began in the 1800’s as a necessity for farmers to get together and trade goods and services has become a world-famous, international destination for fun and shopping. From Thursday through Sunday prior to the first Monday of every month, our small community will welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors -- many of whom are vendors who make their way to the Original First Monday Trade Days Park to sell and trade their wares.

What started more than a century ago as a flea market, has become home to some of the most exciting, cutting-edge home furnishings, antiques and collectibles that can be found anywhere. Yes, if you look around long enough, you can still buy tools, hunting dogs and used trucks, but you can also buy fine china, home accessories, antique jewelry and vintage clothing. Over the past 150 years, lots of things have changed; but, the genuine, down-home human relationship between vendors and shoppers is the reason people keeping coming back to the Original First Monday Park. This is a place where you can slow down, visit and ask questions, talk to collectors and antique dealers, and meet the artists and craftsmen who create one-of-a kind items. This is what makes First Monday a unique shopping experience.

We don’t claim to be the only place where you can buy things. However, many women describe First Monday as "a shopper's paradise," while men who tend to dislike shopping find this experience enjoyable. Disguised in an outdoor world, men enjoy stumbling onto those hard-to-find “man” items. And of course, the Original First Monday Park is a family-friendly environment where children are always welcome.

Next month, bring your family to Canton and enjoy a shopping experience like none other. The Original First Monday Park is a Texas landmark where East Texas hospitality beckons the treasure seekers and the bargain shoppers. We look forward to your visit!
