Falling into Gratitude: Why November Feels Extra Special in Canton

There's something about November in Canton. The air turns crisp, the trees start showing off, and everyone seems to slow down just enough to notice the good things around them. It's the month we set aside to be thankful, and at First Monday Trade Days, we've got plenty to be thankful for.

Our November show runs Thursday, October 29 through Sunday, November 1. Whether you're a regular who knows every row by heart or you're planning your very first trip, here's why this time of year feels a little extra special.

A tradition worth being thankful for

First Monday has been part of life in Canton since the 1850s. It started when the circuit judge came to town on the first Monday of each month, and folks gathered to trade horses, tools and whatever else they'd brought along.

More than 170 years later, the spirit hasn't changed much. People still come together, still swap stories, and still head home with something they didn't know they needed. Generations of families have made the trip, and many of our vendors have been part of the community for years. That kind of history is something we never take for granted!

Get a head start on holiday shopping

The holidays have a way of sneaking up on all of us. The November show is the perfect time to get ahead of the rush and cross a few names off your list before Thanksgiving.

With thousands of vendors across the grounds, you'll find gifts you simply won't see at the mall: handmade crafts, one-of-a-kind antiques, home decor, collectibles and so much more.

Shopping here also means supporting small businesses and makers, which feels pretty good this time of year.

While you're browsing, keep an eye out for pieces to dress up your Thanksgiving table or freshen up your home before the family arrives.

Gather your people

Gratitude is best shared. A day at First Monday is a great excuse to round up the people you love, whether that's a girls' trip, a multi-generation family outing or a weekend away with your best friend.

Some of our favorite memories happen in the little moments: laughing over a strange find, swapping stories with a vendor, or grabbing a bite and resting your feet before tackling the next row. Those are the moments November is made for.

And since the November show lands on Halloween weekend this year, it's a fun chance to start the season of togetherness a little early!

Plan your visit

A few simple tips to make the most of your day:

  • Come early: Mornings are cooler and the selection is at its best.

  • Wear comfy shoes: You'll want to cover a lot of ground.

  • Dress in layers: November mornings can be chilly, but afternoons often warm up.

  • Bring a wagon or tote: Trust us, you'll be glad you did.

  • Make a list, then leave room for surprises: The best finds are usually the ones you weren't looking for.

Thank you for being part of First Monday

This November, we're especially grateful for you: the shoppers, vendors and neighbors who keep this tradition going month after month. We can't wait to see you in Canton, October 29 through November 1. Come for the shopping, stay for the memories, and leave with a full heart.
